Voter FAQ

How do I vote?

You will receive a unique voting link from your poll administrator. Click it, score each candidate 0–5 stars, and submit.

Can I vote more than once?

No. Once submitted, your ballot is final and cannot be changed.

Do I have to score all candidates?

You may leave candidates unscored, which counts as 0. If you have no preference between candidates, giving them all the same score is valid.

What does a score of 0 mean?

It is the lowest possible rating. In participation metrics, a 0 is counted as an abstention for that candidate.

When can I see results?

Results are only available after the poll closes. You can check on this page once the poll has ended.

How is the winner decided?

STAR voting uses two rounds: all scores are totalled first, then the top two candidates go to an automatic runoff where each ballot's head-to-head preference decides the winner. See the full rules for details.

What if there is a tie?

Ties are broken using numerical data from the ballots — head-to-head preferences, then star-rating counts from 5 down to 1. Random selection is never used. If all tiebreakers are exhausted, it is a true tie and a new election is required.

Is my vote anonymous?

Your voting link is unique to you and is used to verify eligibility and prevent double voting. Consult your poll administrator for details on how ballot data is stored.
